If applying as a student, the following steps of the procedure shall be taken by the education institution:

• Request for ICFES user: education institutions which are going to register students for the Pre-Saber 11 and/or Saber 11 exams for the first time, shall request the code to be identified as education institution before ICFES in order to access the PRISMA platform and conduct the registration processes for the exams administered by the Institute.  Education institutions shall have their information properly registered and updated in the Unique Directory of Education Institutions – DUE, as well as in the Ministry of Education’s Integrated Enrollment System – SIMAT. • Students’ management: each education institution shall access the PRISMA application through the website www.icfesinteractivo.gov.co and follow the instructions indicated therein to conduct the Students Management stage. Its purpose is to select students who will sit the exam.
• Information Record: the pre-registration form will be enabled to continue management in the PRISMA platform. The form shall be completed by filling out the data about the student and his/her parents or legal guardians when the student’s age is below 18.  

• Download the payment reference: the education institution may generate as many payment references as required, either per student or groups of students, with whom it will continue the registration process.
• Make payment of the procedure’s fees: payment can be made by electronic media (PSE online payment) or directly in offices of Davivienda bank. Once payment is recorded, the student will be registered; the institution may consult at that time the summary and unique registration number corresponding to each student.

The following steps are to be taken if the student sits the test as individual, i.e., individuals already graduated from high school:

• Request for ICFES user: the code, username, and password must be requested in order to access the PRISMA platform and conduct the steps for applying to the exams administered by the Institute. The link to request the username and password will be enabled in the dates established by the institutional schedule, and may be consulted in www.icfesinteractivo.gov.co.

• Information record:  Complete the information requested for this type of application by following the instructions of the PRISMA platform.

• Download the payment reference: payment references may be generated by continuing the procedure on the PRISMA platform.

• Make payment of the procedure’s fees: payment can be made by electronic media (PSE online payment) or directly in offices of Davivienda bank. Once payment is recorded, the individual will be registered and he/she will be able to consult the summary and unique registration number.

Description: To sit the tests that evaluate competences of students who are about to conclude different undergraduate programs and who have approved at least 75% of the academic credits in the program or who are expecting to graduate within the year following the next date of administration of the exam.

Regulations: Act 1324 of 2009 which establishes among other things, the enforceability of the Exam in order to graduate from Higher Education.

Decree 3963 of 2010 which establishes, among other provisions, the goals and structure of the Exam.

Description:  Acknowledge the validity of exams similar to the State Exam of Middle Education Saber 11 taken overseas by people who have obtained a high-school diploma abroad, so that they can access higher education in Colombia.

Regulations:  Decree 869 of March 17, 2010, which establishes, among other things, that Icfes may acknowledge the validity of exams similar to the State Exam of Middle Education Saber 11 taken overseas in accordance with the procedure that Icfes establishes for that purpose.

Response time: 30 business days.

If the exam is within the resolution by which the validity of some international exams is acknowledged for access to higher education in Colombia, the reply is immediate. But, if it is not associated of the resolution, the acknowledgment of the exam is replied after 30 days, and inclusion thereof in the resolution shall take from two to three months.  

Procedure:

Consult current regulations: Verify in Resolution 000120 of January 30, 2018, Resolution 000252 of April 5, 2018, and Resolution 000546 of August 9, 2018, whether the exam taken abroad is within the list of exams already validated by Icfes.  

If the exam is not in the Resolutions: Prepare the required documents. Individuals who have taken in other countries exams similar to the State Exam of Middle Education Saber 11, which are not recognized by Icfes in Resolution 000120 of January 30, 2018, Resolution 000252 of April 5, 2018, and Resolution 000546 of August 9, 2018, may request Icfes to validate them. The following documentation shall be submitted for that purpose:

• Request with full names, identification document, telephone number, address, and city.

• Name, date, and results of the exam taken by the requester. Certificates must be duly legalized and/or apostilled and translated by an official translator if they are in a language other than Spanish.

• Description: Indicate particularly what the exam taken is about, the areas it evaluates, and the governmental entity which endorses it:  Ministries of Education or agencies acknowledged by each State.

• Name the university and program to which the student is applying.

Lodging the petition: Submit the request through the Electronic Service Module or by post to Calle 26 No. 69-76, Torre 2, Piso 15, Edificio Elemento, Bogota.

Description: Offer to individuals above 18 years of age, who for one reason or another could not complete the formal education cycle in regular education institutions, the choice of certifying the competences required in order to obtain the degree of academic baccalaureate.
